Meet the Artists

Gwendolyn Kammerzell
Gwendolyn’s interest in art began at an early age. Her favorite center in kindergarten was the painting center. She continued to draw and color at home and even sent in an application to a “Learn to Draw” magazine advertisement that was to popular years ago. Her creative interests has also included sewing, photography, jewelry making, and leaded stain glass.
Gwendolyn grew up in the San Francisco bay area and moved to Arizona in her mid-20s. Her art has been inspired by many of her own experiences and memories. Her father was an avid gardener and they always had many types of beautiful flowers at their home. Her husband has inspired her art with their many hikes into the desert and mountains. She was also influenced by the fun spontaneous art of her own children and that of the children in her speech therapy groups. Her love of the ocean, mountains, desert, and florals are evident in her work and many of her favorite things to paint. She loves the bright and cheery colors of the impressionists.
In 2007 Gwendolyn took a beginning painting class offered to employees at Gilbert Public Schools. This class inspired a renewed interest in art that continues today. Since then she has taken numerous classes in person and online. She enjoys playing with the different styles of painting and the fun she is having can be observed in her art. Gwendolyn has won numerous awards for her paintings and jewelry.
